LIFE OR FISHING TRIP

LIFE OR MOWING YOUR LAWN

Life or Fishing Trip by Scoutmaster Herb Wansitler

Is it life or is it a fishing trip?

Sometimes you get tangled up in a mess with other people.  Be careful untangling your lines.

Sometimes the water gets so rough you need a life vest.  Check the weather before you just assume things will be calm.

It is almost always more fun to have someone along for the ride.

Often keeping your mouth closed will help.  Don’t scare the fish away.

When you cast you might get a no bite at all.  Keep trying to pull that trophy fish in by not giving up.

Sometimes parts need maintaining or replacing.  Keep your gear in shape by taking good care of it.

Sometimes you think you have caught the big one, but really you are just stuck in weeds.  Just cut it loose and the big one will come some day.

Watch out for thin ice.

Don’t hit people when you are casting.  Hooks really hurt!

When you catch the right fish at the right moment you will know and appreciate it.

Life or Mowing Your Lawn by Scoutmaster Herb Wansitler

Is it life or is it mowing your lawn?

Sometimes you have to give it more than one try before it begins working.  In fact sometimes it just needs a big kick.

Once you get it going you have a lot of options.  You can go many directions.  Some of them may look better than others.

You must stay on a straight path so things look good.

Once and a while it breaks down.  You will need to get some help and repair it.  Quite often you can repair things yourself with some good common judgment.

Sometimes it gets clogged up with stuff.  You need to take some time to unclog it before you begin again.

Watch out for hills or you may lose control or fall backwards.  Just be careful, that’s all.  If you fall, get back up and keep going.

Be careful where you are shooting the debris.  Someone might get hurt by what you do.

You can easily avoid large obstacles by carefully going around them.  Some of the smaller obstacles are nothing to worry about.

After you get finished pick up your mess.  Don’t leave it around; it’s an eyesore for others.

Is it life, or is it mowing your lawn?
